( A quick OOC note before I begin. I do have a charachter in Odd's pool but because he's not shown up I thought I'd do these! Essentially I have written from advents perspective for every episode from 3 onwards of series 2. Since there are a LOT of these logs by now I'm going to try and avoid a massive text dump by posting two reports every post and formatting appropriately. My aim is to portray the resistance from a senior, human advent perspective. Also since sometimes I feel immersion is broken by pods wandering aimlessly I seek to bring some direction and meaning to this tactical tomfoolery! I appreciate any and all feedback and suggestions on making the format more easily readable. Enjoy ) Operation Twisted Paramour: Season 2 Part 3 *Decryption Key Verified - User ID: 776210* - Please note. All internal Advent communication is on lockdown. Follow the Avatar Protocol.- - Designation 2241 assigned. Monitoring uplink.- *Access confirmed. Classification ID accepted. Opening files.* March 14th 2036 - Advent Security Zone, Guadalajara, Entertainment District. Reporting Administrator: ID 776210 Reports of recent resistance attacks in the area have been on the rise of late. Command have rotated out the older more lenient commander for this major city centre following his abject failure to foresee or prevent the attack on the "Purple Poison" nightclub. I imagine he will be liquidated. This certainly goes some way to demonstrate upon myself the importance of constant vigilance. It falls to me as acting second for the area to compile this report for those higher up the chain. --Civilian Overview-- This location has been under watch for some time. Whilst we have tried to remove the citizens need to gather at such places as the "PP" nightclub we were ordered to instead place active surveillance upon it. To this end the adjacent building was converted into a detention and monitoring centre. On March 6th work completed and asset sharing deemed gene lab runoff tanks be stored adjacent. The population has shown no undue unrest, rebel sympathies or links to terror organizations in the weeks immediately prior to the incident. --Incident Overview--March 13th saw two known suspects linked to the resistance movement enter the area. Advent forces swiftly intercepted and performed a successful arrest on the individuals. The club was shut down by force, all patrons of the evening were placed under heightened surveillance. Orders were given to the effect of holding the prisoners until sectoid staff could attend and interrogate them. However. Within 24 hours a covert team of resistance fighters breeched the perimeter. This was likely via means of NOE flight via presumed dropship. No advent patrols noted suspicious activity. Using the cover of heavy rains a small team of four infiltrated the nightclubs roof and was discovered, by increased foot patrols, whilst attempting to gain access via skylight. In the ensuing minute it appears two entire trooper squads and a sectoid were put down without inflicting casualties. This may be down to tactical oversight however it is of note these units were ambushed and followed proper protocol in seeking to encircle and contain the threat. The hostiles showed little regard for subtlety once discovered and employed high powered explosives upon advent positions. Due to unfortunate timing one sectoid and accompanying troopers were interrogating suspect A whilst simultaneously unaware of the facilities breach. A nearby identification post registered explosive residue in the air and reinforcements were immediately dispatched. Unfortunately when these arrived three troopers were disposed of rapidly causing the remaining officer to call in additional squads. It is believed at this point when the sectoid became aware via radio comms that the facility was under assault. However suspect B had already escaped and the hostiles air support immediately swooped in to perform an evac. --Aftermath--Video surveillance has yielded the names of all four suspected terrorists. We have passed on the details to liquidation teams which will seek all past contacts and family members. The official response to the disturbance has been that there was a large gas explosion at the nightclub which caused the previous evacuation of civilians and the damage from the assault. Advent ground losses total eleven dead. --Response--In response my recommendation, to come into effect immediately, is to deploy rapid strike teams to the surrounding areas. We know the direction the hostile craft escaped to and using geographical data have lowered the enemies suspected location to four points. Each point will be scouted by recon squads and if any unauthorized human enclaves are reported we have drop ships on standby to go in and erase the resistance. Security in Guadalajara will also be doubled with increased surveillance presence. All suspected sympathizers to the resistance must be arrested with immediate effect. To this end we have been granted increased manpower. May we bring justice to our fallen. *Encryption Success. Transferring data to Advent Vault*

March 21st 2035 - Resistance Haven, New Mexico Reporting Administrator: ID 776210 Scout reports and intelligence gathered on the surrounding areas has yielded results. Teams were rapidly deployed to strike at unauthorized rebel dwellings, many suspected of harboring resistance fighters. I am unsure what is more troubling, that these places exist, that they are in such proximity, or that indeed we didn't locate them until recently. -Incident Overview-Advent strike teams were rapidly deployed to sites around the target area. Intercepted radio transmissions suggest that the resistance is utilizing a highly secure communication method of which we are yet to crack. Sadly these were all destroyed on arrival or in the firefight. Upon initial success advent squads comprised mostly of regular troopers, sectoids and officers pushed into the heart of the largest of the illegal camps. However with close air support limited and transports still on the final approach these groups were met with heavy hostile fire. The resistance fighters appeared well equipped and stocked with suitable munitions stockpiles to support a prolonged engagement. Radio chatter analysis and satellite imagery suggests that a group of under ten soldiers held a rebel strongpoint whilst their unarmed personnel evacuated from nearby. This artificial bottleneck seems to have been deliberate and though our forces attempted an encirclement, in line with training to surround and destroy, the hostiles seemed adept at focusing their fire. Breaking through in flank after flank our forces quickly found the encirclement broken and took heavy casualties. As the body count mounted command deployed a rapid reactionary unit of stun lancers which I am told now carry batons designed to kill rather than stun. However these units seem to have fared no better than their counterparts and the entire first wave of assault was cut down. Hostile escape route is unverified but reports suggest a tunnel network used to evacuate civilians and then the combatants after their combat success afforded them time to break from the wider assault and even, troublingly rush out many of the bodies of our fallen. It is unknown at this time why the enemy was intent on robbing us of our dead however speculation suggests a bounty may be in place on our soldiers. -Aftermath-Advent Casualties stand at forty four. However whilst bleak given our forces faced perhaps less than ten hostiles we succeeded in destroying much of the enemies hardware. Communication, transportation, power generation and munitions stockpiles were badly damaged and we have no doubt dealt a serious blow to enemy morale. We have analyzed documents and artifacts recovered and uncovered a partial list of resistance sympathizers to arrest in coming days. Amongst said artifacts was propaganda relating to the organization Xcom, believed destroyed twenty years ago. It is now commands belief that this organization has been resurrected and they are behind the resurgence in hostile activity in the region. Low tech though the resistances living standards may have been they showed great ingenuity in power generation and so forth, utilizing solar paneling and natural energy. However they also displayed that they possess high level computing capability both in hardware and software. With this new intel I suggest implementation of stronger electronic encryption methods immediately. *Encryption Success. Transferring data to Advent Vault*

March 28th 2035 Slums District, Spider Hill, Tijuana Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
Resistance hacker accessed terminal containing information on advent encryption methods and filtering results. Network breech detected and advent deployed to execute hacker and secure the terminal until tech squads can assess damage. Access point in a laundromat.
-Incident Overview- Advent security monitoring for 'Spider Hill' picked up unauthorised network access from within a laundromat in this district. A rapid response team was dispatched and a resistance hacker was found at the scene with suspect computer package. Having moved swiftly to eliminate the hacker additional teams were called in to help secure the area whilst Advent tech staff attempted to remotely terminate the connection. The higher ups deployed viper and sectoid led units to supplement the officer squad already on site.
Within minutes of setting up a perimeter and patrols the forces present came under enemy fire. An ambush from the overpass immediately obliterated the viper unit. However it's accompanying troopers despite being injured seem to have responded well to the ambush. Our emphasis on tactical response training seems to be paying off as blood splatter analysis indicates that prior to expiry our troopers inflicted substantial damage on their assailants. Combat alerted nearby command squad which engaged. Radio chatter recordings from the battle clearly show the hostiles prioritized targeting of the officer present. Unfortunately it seems this group was also badly caught out by the hostiles which took high ground positions and swiftly cleared a path to the hackers terminal. A remote controlled robotic device swooped in and secured the data just a minute before it could be remotely locked down. The remaining sectoid squad having been patrolling the other side of the engagement area rushed in to try and prevent escape however their foe rained explosives upon them. Analysis suggests many of this group died from collapsing ceilings or debris in the following collapse. Unfortunately it seems local forces were unable to prevent the data loss and the resistance fighters withdrew having inflicted heavy structural damage to their surroundings.
-Aftermath Report*- The loss of advanced encryption keys, which were the target of this hack, severely hampers attempts to lockdown our networks. However we are working on our rapid response protocols to create more regional support systems in wake of recent attacks. We anticipate that we will need to re-evaluate our network security in outlying regions to better protect against such breaches. However greater regional deployment of Advent combat personnel in the coming weeks should provide increased ability to reinforce local areas under attack. Resistance tactics seem focused on infiltration, ambush and guerrilla tactics so this is deemed a vital countermeasure.
In a related report we have discovered deceased advent trooper corpses and trophies in resistance areas we've infiltrated and destroyed in recent days. This suggests somewhat troublingly that someone is not only selling these but also they have buyers. We will need to look into this issue immediately especially in light of rumors a wealthy backer is paying a bounty for every dead advent soldier delivered. Whilst it is now clear the group known as Xcom that was though eradicated has re-emerged this tantalizingly high bounty suggests many non affiliated resistance cells may seek to claim advent scalps for an easy payday. We thus are having issues lately identifying resistance hotspots and the exact location of Xcoms command base.

April 3rd 2035 New Mexico, Outlying rail transport line. Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
-Incident Overview- Resistance forces sabotaged a section of track causing our trains to have to perform emergency stop maneuvers. When one of our armored trains discovered the damage it attempted to reverse however resistance fighters blew a segment of track one mile to the immediate rear as well. The trains initial armed contingent disembarked and noted no resistance presence. Reinforcements arrived swiftly to secure the site as given what we've seen of resistance forces of late it was deemed an attack highly likely. However our forces are stretched thin outside the cities so only a moderate force was deployed.
Combat data on the ensuing firefight are proving unclear. We would maintain a far better picture of events however it seems resistance fighters are consistently recovering bodies. Thus without the in-helmet recording software we're not able to provide a deep, tactical analysis of what exactly occurred. However advent forces missed their scheduled check in and when additional forces were deployed alongside the engineering team they found the train pillaged.
-Aftermath Report- This was a messy incident. The train and almost all it's cargo has been pillaged. The area around rock outcroppings near the track was littered with shell casings and the area showed evidence of extensive combat. Magnetic weapon and explosive residue was present as well as quite a goodly amount of blood. Advent blood.
To prevent future raids on our supply network it is suggested we implement fail safe mechanisms. Tech says on particularly important packages they can attach small, remote explosives that are stable enough not to go off without detonation. If we deploy these onto supplies of vital importance we can hopefully at least preserve critical information in event of convoy seizure. If we get lucky we might even give the resistance an explosive surprise! We will also be implementing the new line of armored trains which I am told have up to two hardpoints we can attach turrets to. I'm loathe to give over security to autonomous units but it seems tech is intent on pushing this as a focus. Rumor has it they've almost finished production of a fully autonomous combat mech unit.

April 11th 2035, Advent Municipal District, Tijuana Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
This incident is of utmost severity and is being declared a code orange security breech. It would appear that the personal details of the chief administrator of Tijuana's Municipal District was compromised. Worse the resistance found his location and had clearly been watching him for some time. This is clear in the fact they struck during his daily coffee stop. I enjoy a good cappuccino as much as the next man and find this assault on the poor mans life giving caffeine most distressing!
-Incident Overview- It seems prior to dropping in an assault squad the vehicles in the convoy were disabled. We suspect either sabotage and tampering within the advent cars. However another possibility is some kind of focused electromagnetic pulse. Tech will be investigating the vehicles ruined husks for clues.
As is their want it appears resistance forces ambushed a unit patrolling a rooftop. Again explosives were used to blow the very floor they stood on to pieces sending this group to a tragic demise below. Local forces within our city centers have been shifted to be more versatile and this combat saw the first use of offensive stun lancers in such a setting. Unfortunately the enemy seems to have brought a positive abundance of explosives to the battle. Advent forces attempted to gain good vantage points on the hostiles however it became clear, from battle analysis, that the enemy swiftly moved to high ground. It is presumed due to the high level of tactical awareness, rapid infiltration and exfiltration that this is again the work of Xcom.
-Aftermath Report- Large scale structural damage to the building housing the coffee shop. Explosion audible across multiple city blocks causing panic amongst the civilian populace. Unfortunately the chief administrator for the district was lost. The last our security footage shows of him is a feral young woman clubbing him unconscious and carrying him off. It is assumed that details of his identity were compromised in the recent network breach that prevented our enhanced encryption methods.
Given the high profile nature of the attack at the heart of advent security space we have decided to forgo the usual cover up story. Instead I immediately ordered the implementation of a plan of action I'd hoped to avoid. However it proved a good thing I kept it in reserve. The resistance sympathisers that have been languishing in cells since our last sweep were immediately transported under cover of darkness to the attack site. We then summarily executed them with Xcom's signature projectile weapons, recovered from an ancient stockpile a local police department had maintained. Scattering these corpses along the attack site and coffee shop we left deceased advent present and removed sectoid presence. We don't want people to think the aliens can be slain after all... but our quicka ction was decisive. Immediately broadcasting the gruesome scene the speaker himself took to the airwaves with his impassioned rhetoric. The subsequent PR attack portrays Xcom as terrorists who readily gunned down women and children in a blatant, unprovoked attack. Increased advent patrols have kept the public happy as to our response and we have undoubtedly made some sympathizers question their true loyalties.

April 19th 2035, Slums District, Needle Junction, Los Angeles Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
The slack jawed half wits over in charge of the LA strategic development centre thought it was a wise move to setup a 'secure' data vault in the slums district. Infuriatingly they then thought it was 'subtle' to place mutons and a heavy compliment of crack stun lancers to guard it! They couldn't have painted a bigger bulls eye on their backs if they tried. Infuriatingly the data they chose to pump through this device was not only insufficiently encrypted but they used it to physically isolate high level strategic data. Amongst said data, which was destroyed before transmission, were all my plans for deployments to ensure our rapid response teams covered the entire region.
-Incident Overview- Another infiltration and another ambush. We still have no idea how Xcom is getting it's intel on our positions. This time was the same as usual a mix of high level explosives and guerrilla tactics to whittle away at our forces. Combat footage from surveillance on the slums clearly shows the hostile dropship on approach. However the same footage also shows the frankly nigh on unbelievable incompetence of the field troops deployed. I have seen mutons in battle before and this one must have had an aneurism mid combat. It didn't close to engage a certain kill nor did it return grenade fire onto the rooftops nearby. This just goes to show that sometimes advent officers are the best way to get things done!
-Aftermath Report- All in all the slum district received extensive damage. Many buildings were rendered uninhabitable and we lost another full complement of local troops. Worse the surveillance clearly picked up the hostile drop ship enter and then leave without triggering an automatic network wide alert. Whether this was an error or sabotage is unclear however the hostiles extracted all advent casualties from the area.
I am informed the data vault was 98% completed with it's data transfer when the physical transmitter was destroyed. This alas corrupted the entire transfer! I have had the head of network security for the Los Angeles sector stun lashed and stripped of his post. Maybe having him languish in a cell will demonstrate to others that I do not tolerate such idiotic mistakes. Fortunately as of today I have been promoted to 'Area Overseer' for the entirety of Northern America. I can personally ensure such does not happen again.

April 26th 2035, Resistance Haven, New Mexico Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
Interrogation of resistance detainees provided intel on one of their bases of operation in the region. It seems when one cell is destroyed the others all go into hiding and move around on set schedules. Whilst annoying this suggests a predictability we can exploit. We have found evidence of a few previous camp sites and have set up monitoring teams. This yielded, much to my surprise, almost immediate results and we spotted a roaming group. Intercepted radio chatter suggests they are calling their encampment 'Freedom Springs' so I ordered dispatch of a 'freedom' force to 'liberate' them of their lives seeing as how they cherish such rights. It is only fair we do unto our foe as they do unto us! They target our civilians we will target their own in return.
-Incident Overview- Initial assault proved a complete success. The encampment was swept from North to South by a ground contingent. Meanwhile the initial transports softened up hostile resistance with aerial bombardment. Specifically we sought to target any means of escape, weapons caches and the like. Due to the initial utter lack of resistance it would appear we were highly successful in this initial phase.
It would seem however that the rebels somehow sent a call for reinforcements. Given the rapid deployment of their assistance we assume this was Xcom via their usual dropship flying NOE. At the very least we made it a hot drop zone for them. Combat was joined in approximately the centre of the burning encampment. An advance strike force led by a viper was ambushed by sudden, concentrated fire. Though combat data suggests they sought to return fire and seek defensive ground it seems they were bombarded with heavy ordinance. Remaining forces continued eradicating the civilian presence and securing the flank, as in the swift destruction of forward elements, the hostile presence went unnoticed.
The main combat occurred when an officer led squad encountered hostiles. A swift firefight ensued with Xcom forces deploying explosives with seemingly no care for collateral damage. All in all the hostiles tactical acumen and chaos of the situation led to complete destruction of the first wave of our forces to enter the area. However upon our second waves entry all hostiles had evacuated, civilian casualties were confirmed and it is estimated over half the resistance ground assets were destroyed. All in all a reasonable success that should hinder our enemy.
-Aftermath Report- Aside from damage to resistance abilities to project their influence in this area we have learnt more on their tactics. Specifically regarding Xcom technical analysis of the area suggests they are utilising magnetic weaponry. The sophistication of their armaments and the step up in the space of only two months is troubling. It suggests that perhaps the group is actively seeking to reverse engineer our own technology. In turn this would also require a large research and manufacturing focus! To try and minimise the impact this may have I have initiated an immediate high alert to all population centres. We must secure and monitor our high level assets such as technicians and engineers and remain vigilant.
Amongst resistance dead we have got positive identification on five previously unknown members. These have been added to the dossier and all known relatives and contacts are under intense scrutiny. Dossiers for each are below. We are hopeful some of these contacts will relate to the increasing instability in Old Canada / New North-Eastern America. The area has had reports of high levels of dissidence, civilian desertion and gangland warfare of late. Fortunately these elements appear unfocused giving us time to develop strategies to deal with them.

May 1st 2035, Small Town, Advent Patrol Zone 11, Chicago Outskirts Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
Another day. Another new month. Another attack! I shouldn't be surprised by now if I'm honest. It would appear the enemy has a fetish for attacking only once every week! Still our systems are still on high alert following my overhauling of our reactionary systems. Datavaults have been secured using new explosive detonators in event of compromise. Autonomous turrets and the new line of advent mechs have also been rapidly deployed, across the entire North American sector, to supplement local patrol forces. Additional sentry posts and sniper units have been redeployed from city centers to outskirts as a show of force, the intention to reassure the civilian populace. So far despite the abundance of small scale assaults we appear to have public order under control.
-Incident Overview- Hostiles infiltrated the area by sneaking past advent patrols. They established high ground positions and, taking cover behind solar panels, opened up on a viper led squad, guarding the recon command truck. Though this group suffered heavy losses, combat data suggests, the viper drove the enemy from the rooftops via poisonous spit. Detonation on high profile intel was triggered on an immediate countdown as local patrol returned to assist. Bringing stun lancers and a mech this group sought to offset the enemies heavy ordinance with their own. Meanwhile the sectoid led sniper group patrolling the outskirts returned to investigate gunfire, joining the fight and soundly outnumbering resistance forces. Unfortunately at the same time a hostile robotic unit flew in and performed an astoundingly swift hack of our datavault. This occurred before we could detonate the physical device and network officers confirm the breach and total loss of data. Clearly outnumbered the hostiles called in their evac dropship and at this point it became clear these were Xcom soldiers. Alas our forces were unable to bring down the dropship despite opening up with full firepower. It is assumed thus that all hostiles survived exfiltration and our data was compromised. Whilst this is in essence a defeat it is the first time we've been able to bring to bear our considerable numerical advantage and force our foe to withdraw. Had they not had access to a dropship then it is likely we'd have eradicated the group.
-Aftermath Report- Whilst our forces suffered minimal casualties during this engagement I hesitate to call it a success. It is true we forced our enemy to retreat however they got away with vital data. I'm almost tempted to order paper based records on high level suspects to supplement digital ones, however my advisors have talked me out of this. Still we need to find some way to better lockdown our intelligence reports on resistance cells in light of this clear attack on that data. Perhaps the enemy doesn't want us to know who all their friends are! I don't know why they wouldn't because I've set up a delightful tea party that they're all invited to.
Tech has been developing a new composite armour for our ground troops. Apparently it should provide additional protection from explosive assault, which in light of our enemies reliance on such weapons will be extremely useful. Simultaneously my colleague in New Asia has provided support in the form of a surplus of incendiary projectiles. He has stated these are most in need in my sector and one can only hope the enemy doesn't intercept this data or the packages on transit.

May 6th 2035, Eastern USA, Wilderness, Advent Blacksite Reporting Administrator: ID 776210
This incident caught me off guard. This was mostly due to the fact I had no damned idea we were operating a secret facility in this area! I have what I previously believed to be the highest level of military clearance and not knowing of this facility has caused me significant alarm. Allegedly it is a top secret genetic research facility looking into genetic predisposition to disease. My debriefing suggests this facility handled the dead victims of these diseases and I have been handed all combat data for analysis into ongoing unrest in my sector. I have also been informed this destroyed facility was deemed high priority within the avatar project, though the reason for this eludes me. Certainly it was well defended, however seemingly not well enough! Management of the site and cleanup is now my responsibility.
-Incident Overview- An autonomous turret detected unauthorized personnel present on storage building 2B. An immediate network alert was sent out, announcing intruder detection, fortunately a nearby sectoid led unit responded swiftly. Footage suggests hostile forces were taken by surprise and deployed immediate explosive weaponry. Alas the rooftop turret whilst not destroyed by these explosives was severed from it's hardpoint, losing power and connection, plummeting uselessly into the lab below. I am told that this quote 'scared the living crap' out of a technician who proceeded to hide in a storage vat for hours after the attack had ended. With the mid segment of 2B now aflame a patrol was dispatched to investigate and provide a situational update. However this patrol was promptly ambushed and utterly eradicated in a crossfire. The now mounting death toll triggered a biometric alert to facility HQ that an attack was most definitely in progress. Forces moved to advanced patrol setups and heavily fortified the main facility building. Providing full, real time, tactical data this new system informs local command elements of exactly which members of local groups have perished.
After securing the interior a sectoid led sniper squad exited building 2A. Patrolling down the main avenue of outside storage they were fired upon. It seems hostiles prioritized the sectoid. This squad was also eliminated though helmet cam footage suggests snipers inflicted light damage. As the hostiles approached the main facility, entrance 1B they triggered the automated roof turret and the exterior advent trooper patrol took immediate action to prevent hostile entry. Unfortunately it would appear the enemies marksmanship was exceptional and squad contact was lost soon after. The turret lost heat signature contact before being taken out from long range, presumably by a hostile sniper. Showing good tactical acumen a sectoid led stun group waited until enemies closed on entrance 1B before rushing in to attack. Pinning the enemy down with suppressing fire one stun lancer landed a solid strike on a hostile unit, the sectoid psionically raising a dead trooper as a distraction. Alas it seems initial success made the group reckless and after many questionable strategic decisions they perished. Combat footage from one stun lancer oddly shows him charge right up to one badly wounded hostile then run off and ineffectually swat at a far higher armoured target. We clearly need to redouble our field units training!
Facility breach now in full swing internal heavy mech and trooper squads attempted to engage hostiles. However the rapid advance of the enemy wiped out half the squad. It seems the enemies magnetic shotguns are exceedingly potent at close range, the mechs reactive computing factored this weapon in as the greatest cause of harm, which led to unit immobilization. However the remaining troopers focused fire on a single target outright slaying the most forward hostile in a barrage of magnetic rounds. Had the remaining troopers not been summarily slaughtered by heavy weapons fire they would surely have earnt promotions for their heroic defense! One trooper however had the presence of mind to lure hostiles into the waiting embrace of a viper led group comprised of snipers and troopers. These forces swiftly moved to surround the enemy, advancing on hide ground and flanks. In these positions an advent sniper secured another kill on a hostile. However hostile fire proved overwhelming and destroyed a rear segment of wall. I am told hostiles then stole vital biological technology and fled via the newly created exit. Advent reinforcements arrived at this late stage however on dropping it's payload the craft was nearly sideswiped out of the air by Xcom's gaudily decorated dropship. Beating a hasty retreat our dropship escaped unscathed, however ground deployed troops took casualties. Both the lead officer and stun lancer were dispatched as the rest of the squad was driven back whilst Xcom rapidly evacuated.
-Aftermath Report- Thirty advent soldiers and alien counterparts lie dead. The research facility lies in nigh on utter ruin and high value biological research was stolen. I received a report from the Elders themselves via the speaker informing me this research post was vital to the avatar project. In essence the report was equal parts a warning not to probe further and to not fail them again. Given that this facilities defence was in fact given over to 'Special Operations Group N' I find this irksome however it lets me take credit for Xcom casualties at the very least. We can utilize the clearly combat downed enemies in some form of propaganda next time Xcom strikes a civilian area.
I find myself unnaturally drawn by curiosity of the nature of the research taking place within. Given what I've been told was going on I dare say it's better to keep my nose clean. At least via official channels.
Cleanup crew report confirmation of the identities of Xcom's dead. However we also managed through blood analysis to identify two of the other hostile soldiers. We have compiled a basic dossier below to be sent to intel for fleshing out. Hopefully we can find surviving family members to leverage as hostages should these individuals venture forth against us once more. Also of note the member known as Edvard Pike was carrying a magnetic weapon with the name 'Magnified' inscribed on the side. This has been recovered and sent for extensive weapons testing. If it proves more versatile than our guns we may be able to modify our standard equipment. The scope however does seem clearly cannibalized from our weaponry so perhaps this is a shot in the dark.
In the wake of these attacks we have beefed up security on an upcoming PR tour by an advent special forces captain. We can ill afford such an asset to be assassinated or worse captured on live television! Especially since he's supposed to be demonstrating the new EOD armour variant. We have also deployed the standard intel sweeps of outlying civilian populations deemed of significant risk.

-Incident Overview- Advent patrols guarding a relay were ambushed. Presence around the relay included a full compliment of stun lancers, two sectoids and a double compliment of troopers. In the initial ambush both sides fired upon each other, four troopers going down to enemy fire. A hostile robotic enemy kept buzzing our soldiers as they fired, sending minor electrical sparks, to intercept rounds fired at Xcom personnel. Multiple angles of security footage and trooper cams show fully two squads were eradicated in short order before they had proper chance to reposition. This may be due to our squads being bunched too closely together and a prime target of hostile explosives. The two remaining stun lancers displayed the usual bravery by charging in for the attack however somehow managed to entirely miss the mark. The trooper presumably somewhat spooked opted against flanking a hostile to hide behind a car. Perhaps out forces need a refresher lesson in CQB best practice! Sure enough the stun lancers though zealous don't seem to care too much for their own well being. One can only imagine they dope themselves stupid on some kind of psychotic drug the way they act! At any rate both them and the trooper then fell to enemy fire. The remaining sectoid attempted to raise a psi-zombie, however, was disorientated by a flashbang and couldn't maintain the psionic link. Whether hostiles knowingly targetted the data relay or not is unclear, however it was destroyed in crossfire.
It was at this point that reinforcements called in by advent security officers for the district arrived on the scene. It seems the state of high alert had at least -someone- in our command structure watching the cameras! I will make a special note to find the officer responsible and congratulate them on their swift thinking. The local force deployed an additional, officer led, trooper squad to the scene. These forces came under immediate heavy fire as soon as they dropped in, the officer immediately gunned down. Fortunately the advanced pace of training in trooper tactics meant the more elite, tougher variant of experienced, soldiers deployed alongside him managed to gain good cover. Simultaneously the remaining patrol group led by a mech and comprised of stun lancers finally joined the frey, providing a firm front against Xcom agressors. Outnumbered the hostile forces pulled back trying to extract from the scene. Blowing up a civilian vehicle as they withdrew they managed to slay an elite trooper and severely damage the mechanized unit. As the mech advanced on hostile positions it took fire from multiple angles and was destroyed before it could bring it's micro-rockets to bear. Stun lancers aggressively closed on Xcom positions dealing glancing blows to two hostile operatives. Pinning them in place for their peers they were alas let down. Not a single shot found it's mark on these pinned forces. However an elite trooper, showing the new training regime is paying dividends, managed to headshot the hostile sniper who had retreated atop the overpass. Simultaneously his peer rushed forwards pinning and severely injuring a third Xcom operative.
However both stun lancers up front were torn to shreds by our enemies magnetic shotguns showing once again the sheer resolve of our foe even when soundly outgunned. Fortunately the lone sniper on advent assignment scored a perfect kill on one of the shotgun wielding hostiles, the sectoid, now recovered from disorientation, resurrected one of the downed lancers as a psi-zombie. An elite trooper scored his second combat kill of the day bringing down a hostile with precision shots, the ensuing panic in the remaining two hostiles causing them to bolt for better cover. However this unfortunately did not stop them inflicting another casualty as the elite trooper group was diminished from two to one remaining with a nigh on unbelievable long range shotgun headshot. Combatants in the zone now diminished to two Xcom personnel against one advent sniper, an elite trooper, sectoid and psi-zombie the tides of battle could have gone either way. However with another pinpoint shot the lone sniper wounded a remaining soldier who; resolve faltering was easily panicked by the sectoids psionic influence. The psi-zombie stumbled over a pile of Xcom dead to deliver the blow he could not in life. Dead fists deftly controlled by his sectoid master bludgeoned one of the remaining Xcom operatives to death! Meanwhile the panicked remaining soldier was easy prey for our advent sniper on scene who ratched up his second kill of the day eliminating the hostile presence entirely.
-Aftermath Report- Though our data relay was destroyed the lost data is of relatively minor significance. However the devestating combat win against Xcom whilst coming at a heavy price more than makes up for this loss. Truely I can only imagine the enemy camp right now! I would love to see the dismay in their faces. The hate and rage and sense of loss. The outright stench of depsair. These thoughts fuel me! They have inflicted such loss upon us of late. I do not dare think the number of advent dead. The human toll is simply too high and inflicted by such morally backwards savages it only hurts me more. Still if we can keep things at this pace Xcom and the misguided resistance will soon be eradicated. The seeker promised another twenty years of peace and prosperity. We shall get it. We shall fight for it. But I have no doubt now that we will suceed.
Dossiers on the dead have been compiled in brief below. They are to be sent to our lads down in intel for analysis. Meanwhile I have cleaned up the combat scene and invited the associated press to view the battle site. We have cleared most of our dead instead replacing them with destroyed mechanized units. We are promoting the event as an ambush specifically planned to lure armed rebels into our clutches. This will serve a dual purpose! Firstly it will lead Xcom to ponder whether this was in fact an ambush and it will prevent other resistance groups thinking that we are weak or easy targets. We are parading the elite trooper and sniper on scene with full military honours before the camera, celebrating their combat skills. With the upcoming PR tour of our special forces, incendiary rounds en route and EOD armour ready to roll out I dare say we can relax slightly. We should have an overwhelming tactical advantage on our foes. One I intend to press. Also we recovered that pesky robotic drone the enemy use though it seems to have been detonated prior to controllers death. Still I am sure tech can find some use for it.
