Operation Laughing Glove Season 3 Episode 2
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
Here's the latest report along with the usual dull weekly summary. You know if you don't sort our encryption advent might be breathing down our necks any day now! For the record I still resent being sent to South Africa of all places but it seems our intel might be right for a change. I've managed to establish myself with your local contacts but the culture shift is... jarring. You try travelling for months across advent controlled Europe next time damn it. I already miss Wales. Hell I even miss England. So you'd better survive until I get back over there or so help me! Anyway enough babble here's the report and yes I did double check I'd attached it this time. What do you take me for? I don't go to all this effort to infiltrate advents networks just to forget to send the results! Well ok.... fair enough. it happened once! Get off my back... also you should check out the attached combat footage. I don't know what group this is yet but oh wow check out that chick with the dreads! Phwoarrr maybe Africa isn't so bad after all.

Small Town, Advent Patrol Zone 14, Outskirts of Bloemfontein - March 6th 2035
-Incident Report- A rapid deployment centre was struck by a resistance raid in the early hours. The facility which housed a garrison dropship and rapid response vehicle, served to project power through the neighbouring town, providing a secure location to hold prisoners or resistance sympathizers. On March 6th it served as a relay point to upload local research, namely Psionic Flow Readings, relating to advent communications in the region. The facility boasts good local security coverage via surveillance and area lighting.
This incident was an ambush by hostile infiltrators. Having gained access to the dropship platform hostiles opened fire on a patrol squad in the yard. Initial gunfire killed two of the three present, one being the station officer, the third soldier swiftly perishing to fire. The final casualty however managed to get out a distress call and sectoid led outer patrols rapidly converged. However the hostiles seemed well equipped and sabotaged the present ground vehicles. One of the sectoid teams was alas swiftly eliminated and in the process the gunship was heavily damaged and set ablaze. Retrieved footage of the assault shows the third patrol group inflicted a casualty on the enemy who though well equipped in terms of ordinance showed little advancement in armour. It appears from captured footage that their casualty was wearing civilian clothing, leading my belief to be that this is local resistance. Our forces were unable to capitalise on this however and were wiped out. We only became aware of the assault when local residents rang emergency services to report explosions and fires nearby. Upon attending the scene with aerial support it was found the hostiles had exfiltrated with their dead. As well as this the Psionic Flow data was utterly erased perhaps uploaded and stolen. A full search of the station revealed no implanted devices however it became clear high end weaponry was stolen from the small on site armoury.

Operation Fire Tomb Season 3 Episode 3
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
I'm just starting to settle in with your contacts in the region. The local leader is both female, non native and named 'Den Mother' so I'm somewhat unsure what the hell has been going on down here. I mean den mother? Come on! What are we? Wolves? Bah anyway she's welcoming enough as are most here but trusting? Forget about it. I've only been allowed to link my computer up because of the software updates we bought along. Apparently merely establishing a backdoor hack into advents local datavault isn't good enough! Still I can't blame them for being jumpy. This new couple joined a few days ago and they're acting odd as fuck. I swear I've not seen the man eat since he arrived.
Oh and did I forget to mention.... they confiscated my weapons! MY WEAPONS! We smuggled those all the way across the damn world and ok so I've not had to use them. That doesn't mean I don't feel naked without them. I reckon these people took one look at me and decided I'm just some computer twat who can't handle a rifle. I'm holding you accountable. Still I have to ask how's the new headquarters coming along? Just for the record I'm also voting against altering the organisations name. Just because MI6 no longer technically exists doesn't mean it's not part of our core identity. Without the guerrila ops and survival training we'd be long dead.
Anyways I've got an update on local resistance. Den Mother says this isn't her groups doing but she seemed to know whose hitting advent. There was a smirk and she annoyingly told me I'd find out soon at a scheduled contact. On the up side an advent ID tower picked up that little beauty with the dreadlocks! Name of Angelique Durand and she's French. I should have known she was French.... why am I drawn to French women? Well hey at least she's still alive right. Before you judge.... no I'm -not- stalking advent files for her.... I have to keep my spirits up somehow! Can't find a good fucking whiskey this far from Scotland to save my life.

Advent Surveillance Zone, Cape Town - March 15th 2035
-Incident Report- Armed insurrection into advent surveillance zone under cover of dark. Heavy rain is thought to have masked the heat signatures of approaching aircraft as a small task force dropped into Cape Town's interior. An alert was triggered ten minutes prior to hostile contact when a suspected resistance sympathiser named 'Ziby Jaytor' dropped off thermal cams surveying his house for activity. Sure enough we can confirm he absconded and worse the hostile force was sent to extract him. It seems he must have been of some importance to them but the finer details will be for a full intel report. Hostiles were initially spotted by an officer led patrol on approach to AdCore company HQ. Unfortunately the hostiles got the drop on this unit and it was eradicated. The weather masked much of the initial sound and weapons fire signatures giving the hostile squad sufficient time to relocate.
As a sectoid assault squad engaged from the nearby AdCore rooftops they were bombarded with high explosive grenades and unfortunately perished. These grenades caused extensive structural damage to the building, roads and infrastructure nearby. Local patrols rushed to investigate the source of the explosions and alas were met with some, rather close examples of, enemy explosives. All in all protocols were followed well but the enemy was ruthless in blasting advent operatives through ceilings, to a horrific death below. However at this point sector wide alarms were going out and dropships were rapidly deployed to the scene. It would appear reinforcements were too late to assist however they did get visual confirmation of hostile dropship on exit of advent air space. Pursuit was undertaken but the enemy was lost in the storm.

Operation Wolf Hole Season 3 Episode 4
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
Well fuck me sideways. You no doubt recall my last transmission was from that resistance outpost in South Africa.... well. Yeah. Long story short I'm somewhere else now. It turns out the extra activity raiding in this region wasn't just random raiding but I'll get into that later. You no doubt saw the speakers last global broadcast on the 21st of March? Well guess what happened immediately afterwards. Not sure? Still guessing? About twenty fucking advent dropships hit the very resistance forces I was sheltering with! It was like that battle we had in Worcester all over again. In fact I'd say it was five times worse because there was a horrific absence of defensive fortifications once advent hit us with the first flypass. To be frank I'm fortunate to have survived as over half the camp was wiped out in the initial strike. The 'Den Mother' is dead and pretty much all static assets are destroyed. Alas my hardware was obliterated but I managed to safeguard the decryption software at the very least.
However it's not all doom and gloom. It turns out the resistance over here is about as tough as ours back home. I got ushered out of camp pretty sharpish, handed a pistol and told to escort a group away. But as we prepared and advent closed on us I saw a dropship fly in. Yeah you read that right. Drop. Ship. Even more! Whilst the resistance garrison were tooling up (they used my weapon by the way... at least it helped?) I overheard that the ship was owned by Xcom. I know you never put much truck in rumors they still existed but now at the least we know someones trying to revive global resistance. I suppose this explains why advent are taking south Africa so damned seriously all of a sudden.
After civilian evac we made our way to a series of small, concealed boats and made a rather fraught crossing in choppy seas to Madagascar. It would seem Xcom passed the resistance survivors details of one of their ground bases and we're on the way there right now. Undoubtedly I'll be able to be of some assistance even if all I can do is sit in a room somewhere and hack systems. Still if this is the real deal and they start spreading reach to the North I may be able to bring some much needed reinforcements to the UK! Also I hear the advent strike force took heavy losses and was forced to withdraw. The apparent victory wasn't without cost apparently but I'll be able to provide more intel soon. Oh and it took two days of vetting my activity to manage to send this.......!

Operation Sacred Prophet Season 3 Episode 5
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
I'm writing this April 5th though I doubt you'll receive it this evening on account of your birthday celebrations. If you do read it.... well here's some good news for you! It turns out this Xcom is the real deal. Rumor has it that Central Officer Bradford led a cell and broke the old Xcom commander out of an alien facility! Seems he's back in the fight and the only difference between now and twenty years ago is the absence of council support. Not only that but they have been very, very busy indeed! You're possibly not going to believe me and.... for obvious reasons I'm not sending any pictures but they have a fully operational alien craft. It sure as hell beats our mobile command centre that's for damn sure! It seems to be a unique class of alien supply ship and from what I can gather it's fully operational. About half the size of the huge carrier vessels we saw, in the late stages of invasion, this one serves as Xcom's main base housing all their personnel. For now I've not managed to garner enough support to get up there and offer my services as a recruit however I'm still useful on the ground.
Xcom's ground based HQ however has eagerly taken me on board and assigned me to gathering more intel. Utilizing the new decryption software we bought over and with their help we've managed to complete and update the code. In short we've now ripped so big of a hole in the gaping anus of advents security network you could drive a train through it! We're still annoyingly reliant in many cases on physical uplinks and on that note please see the below report where Xcom deployed to protect such a device and succeeded. Contact has allegedly been made with North Africa mostly cells in Libya and Egpyt. There's word of a secret alien site located somewhere in Iran as well though nobody is quite certain on the location. Frankly I'm just hoping it's not one of those crappy experimental nuclear power plants. All it takes is some idiot to get into a supposedly powered down nuclear station and we'd be looking at a huge issue. Meanwhile Xcom has been.... surprising. I keep hearing transmissions about paint deliveries being needed to recolour weapons or something. I dunno.... these people seem focused on strange priorities! But hey if they're putting the hurt on advent maybe a little oddity can be overlooked.

Small Town, Advent Patrol Zone 11, Cape Town Outskirts - March 28th 2035
-Incident Report- A resistance mole stole critical date to the latest advent projects. A device was transmitting the data back to resistance HQ . As our forces became aware of the active network breach rapid deployment protocols came into effect to neutralise the threat. A local market day, in line with a recent drive for promotion of sustainable living and nutritious diet, was underway at the time of advent arrival and had to be evacuated before the area could be locked down. Fortunately this was completed just five minutes before hostiles engaged at the scene.
A sectoid assault squad moved to start destroying the enemy device after locating it. Meanwhile a small patrol of an advent gunslinger and sectoid were deployed to the market perimeter and were ambushed within minutes by resistance forces. The ambush began with HE grenades and the sectoid was slain in the ensuing barrage of fire. Fortunately the accompanying advent pistolier survived and relayed new of the attack before withdrawing into the building housing the hostile device to regroup. Hostile forced advanced on the factory housing the device blowing a hole in the wall with explosives. In the firefights early stages fire was prioritized on the remaining sectoid and wounded gunslinger who were both dispatched. As a rear patrol moved to continue destruction of the device remaining advent forces pinned down the four man enemy squad outside.
Advent reinforcements managed to arrive at this point via emergency dropship deployment from a local garrison, much like the one hit previously in our war to secure our data against these rebels. The dropship pilot almost clipped a residential building on the way in and hot dropped an officer and two troopers in to assist ground forces. Enemy forces pivoted to face the new threat unfortunately killing the officer as he broke landing position for cover. The two troopers however were able to successfully take positions to the enemies rear however a simultaneous push from within the factory was met with heavy gunfire, slaying a reckless trooper as he attempted to reposition. Hostiles disengaged from the factory and focused on hunting down and eradicating the two remaining troopers to their rear. Though these soldiers did perform admirably they were outnumbered and outmatched and ultimately perished. Notably one died after hostiles set the car he was sheltering behind ablaze and the ensuing explosion took our trooper down. Having secured the rear and confirming no hostiles present the remaining squad returned to re-engage the enemy, initially firing upon the device which seemed remarkably well shielded from our rounds. Whilst attempting to secure the hostiles entry point the officer was gunned down and accompanying troopers scattered for cover. Unfortunately hostile fire proved overwhelming and our soldiers were slain. Before a second wave could arrive the enemy data transfer was complete, their device destroyed and they exfiltrated. The recent spate of attacks on our local garrison outposts has necessitated a reshuffle of advent forces meaning we can no longer carry out our plan to guarantee dropship coverage sector wide. We will instead have to focus on areas deemed high importance and perhaps leave some outlying centres more vulnerable.

Operation Frost Prince Season 3 Episode 6
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
I can confirm we received your April 10th intel update. I'm glad you're as keen as I am to muster the resistance behind Xcom wherever possible. I also know you still have doubts. So hopefully before the years end you'll get to meet the Commander or Central yourself. Or perhaps better yet they'll fly down to the Welsh border and blow up that alien research facility you mention. I'm troubled by the news advent forces are further consolidating their hold on England. I certainly agree however there are few other reasons for such transport of building materials, coupled with a heightened disappearance rate amongst the populace, than an advent push. Perhaps it's coincidental but we've suspected them of undertaking biological research on people for years now. Maybe we'll finally get some answers if you're right about the co-ordinates you were leaked of this alleged research facility.
I was saddened to hear you'd lost contact with the highlands resistance cell. Remember there could be many reasons so let's not assume them dead just yet. You know how tough those Scottish bastards are! Still they always had a habit of biting off more than they could chew. You didn't mention 'Albion' or 'Commando Group Alpha' but I imagine contact is still ongoing? Don't let my son slip off the radar. He's become distant ever since his wife died in that advent raid two years back. Ensure he sticks to his contact schedule and doesn't throw his life away in vain.
Oh and the report for the raid on the convoy is below. Well.... rather advents report on events is. I couldn't manage to find a copy of the combat footage and given Xcom suffered a casualty thought it insensitive to enquire with them either. All in all they're still hitting advent hard but like us they take casualties in the process. I'm more than slightly concerned about advent finding the backdoor in their code and closing us out so I'll only be sending you the more important reports.

Wilderness of South Africa - April 10th 2035
-Incident Report- Convoy raid on the main transport network for outlying regions. Resistance managed to destroy leading and rear vehicles trapping the others. However advent forces swiftly deployed from their transports to secure the area aiming to lock it down. One patrol squad detected hostile presence and opened fire severely wounding one hostile. However this squad was ill positioned and eradicated with ease by the opposition. Fortunately a sectoid led heavy assault group intercepted the hostiles as they moved up along a rocky ledge. In the advance it seems hostiles were so intimidated by our new combat stun lancer group and sectoid psi influence that they failed to hit targets right in front of them. Though one lancer went down another scored a classic kill on an enemy combatant "Jorge Vroge" as we ID'd from combat footage. The death of a comrade however seems to have sent hostile forces into something akin a frenzy and they swiftly repositioned and rained gunfire on our positions. Bringing local forces down to a single sectoid the unit opted to retreat to a reinforced position. Hostiles rapidly closed on new position, engaging our remaining forces, slaying a sectoid and shock trooper outright and taking cover behind a heavy goods transit vehicle. The remaining sectoid managed to gain mental control of one target however was struck with a flashbang device which disoriented it breaking the link. It was then unceremoniously bombarded by gunfire until the remnants of it's form collapsed dead. It is at this point all combat footage ended and it's believed the remaining soldier had malfunctioning recording gear. This unfortunate incident highlights the need for rapid development of new strategies and prediction methods for hostile movement. However we can at least take comfort that our forces did not grant the enemy this victory with any semblance of ease. If only we had finished them all off.

Operation Knife Claw Season 3 Episode 7
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
It's April 16th and this transmission is going to have to reach you the hard way. Advent apprehended one of our intermediaries and seized control of around a third of the North African network. Provided nothings fucked up with the encryption this has come to you via our good friends in Iran.... something I honestly never thought I'd say! Who'd have thought.
Xcom infiltrated an advent major city centre. The aim was to capture or neutralise a VIP in the area and deal a blow to advent in a public space. Rather ballsy if you ask me but they certainly pulled it off in style! Unfortunately the initial ambush didn't go entirely as planned with a viper rapidly flanking the attack group which had already found itself in a sticky situation against what they dubbed 'battle sectoids' and stun lancers. From all accounts it was a somewhat hectic firefight but Xcom prevailed. The image painted by the individual soldier reports suggests they had to perform quite a few risky moves, such as getting right up in a stun lancers face to execute him. Having dealt with the initial threat they then split into two core groups, one going after the VIP and the other moving to support. It would appear a lul in combat ensued allowing everyone to regroup around the VIP and begin extraction. Encountering another advent patrol outside the closest exit route it took precious time to clear hostile forces and pave a way to the drop ship. This time allowed advent to bring in additional troops via air support seemingly intent on keeping up the pressure. Whoever the VIP was it's quite clear advent don't take incursions deep into their territory very well! The lovely miss Durand was able to extract the VIP however as 'Firebrand' as Xcom call their drop ship returned, holding position overhead. Advent seemingly took note, three troopers lined up in a firing line on the extraction zone. The squad ran a gauntlet of fire and evaced as a ranger held the enemy back, outnumbered three to one, even managing to slay one before evacing herself.
Poor Angelique took a hit from an advent weapon and is out for some time. If they opt to bring me on board I'll be damn sure to pay my respects to those in the med bay. I hear there are quite a few badly wounded up there. Still all things considered I can't fault their courage. The fact they actually pulled off what I'd have dubbed a suicide mission is astounding in itself but to have no casualties? That's something else. You'll note that advent heavily supressed any news of combat in Cape Town and in fact concocted a cover story. Given the pace of Xcom's attacks I'd suggest perhaps beefing up your security on the home front. Call me patronising and you've probably already started... but I'd suggest you prepare our forces for full scale war. We've been monitoring advent low level comms and it seems they're going to be holding a PR tour of some kind within the month. Seems it's another genetics scientist trying to encourage more people to sign up for the gene clinics. You may also want to keep an eye on the official side of the story because the ground team agreed with me and we relayed intel to Xcom command. It's gone up on the target list and I'll cackle with glee if they hit it! I'm interested to see how advent are broadcasting goings on in Africa across Europe so do keep me posted!

Operation Blood Queen Season 3 Episode 8
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
On April 17th the avenger checked back in with HQ. Looks like they're still doing well but I have no damn idea how they're avoiding alien scans. After all the whole reason we lost the war was alien air superiority! I envy their ease of movement but I get flashbacks of burning aircraft plummeting from the sky. I wonder what the hell the aliens did with all their battleships. Did they land them? Are they somewhere else? Will they ever return? I suppose I'll not find the answers to such questions but maybe if we take back the Earth we'll gain some insight.
Dubious performance here on the 19th. Poor Alice McKinsley had bait duty this mission. She took point blank fire from a sectoid and dodged it! As the name may suggest she's from Great Britain and I dare hazard a guess at Scotland! Someone I will be sure to check back in with next time the avenger drops by. She proved pleasent conversation and frankly her accent whilst not what I expected is quite fantastic! I've rooted out another advent report into todays mission. They filed it rather swiftly! Do tell me if the decryption software your end runs into any issues. We hit corrupted code a few days back and it's been hell sorting through it all but this report should be solid.

Slums District, 'Needle Junction', Cape Town - April 19th 2035
-Incident Report-
Xcom Operatives infiltrated one of Cape Towns Slums. The area served as a mid way stop on a PR tour advertising gene clinics and promoting citizen health and participation. It seems the target was our representative on the ground and hostile forces appear to have snuck in via the highway network nearby. From this position they managed to get the drop on advent patrols underneath in the slum area. Evidence of Xcom's passage through this highway is evident in the fresh, dripping paint of graffiti left on cars on the highway. Examples include "Fuck Advent" and a picture of a sectoid impaled on a crudely drawn spear. It appears one of the Xcom operatives is still at the primitive caveman level of evolution. Intel reports suggest that such grafitti often shows up alongside a certain operative, here seen wielding a sniper rifle. We've updated intel files accordingly and are suggesting if such graffiti is spotted near high importance areas it should trigger a high level of alert immediately.
Initial contact came as a sectoid and accompanying trooper patrolled below the highway. They encountered an armed hostile and opened fire, unfortunately missing the evasive target. Hostiles on the highway opened fire as another, viper led, squad engaged directly outside the building housing the VIP. In the ensuing chaos of the firefight many civilians broke from the ongoing speech and fled, the VIP following protocol to seek shelter until rescued. However the viper and one advent soldier were slain outright as the firefight broke out. Unfortunately before suppressing fire could be applied on Xcom positions they had rapidly advanced. A combination of shotgun, sniper and heavy weapons fire obliterated the remnants of patrol groups one and two leaving the VIP relatively unguarded nearby. A hostile made a rush for the building housing the VIP and patrol group three moved to intercept. Unfortunately this officer led group of advent stun lancers took heavy fire. It appears hostiles bombarded the rooftop they were on with explosives, slaying the officer, wounding a stun lancer and even injuring the VIP with debris.
With one remaining lancer on the ground to protect the VIP relief came in the form of an officer drop. An advent drop ship provided a hot drop almost on top of hostile positions. These troops were met by hostile small arms fire but managed to scatter for cover, forcing the enemy to reposition. This tacticla advantage however was relatively short lived as again hostiles rapidly moved to perfectly counter our forces. First the officers signals went down, then the troopers and finally a sniper managed a difficult shot and slew the stun lancer. Leaving the VIP now utterly undefended this signals a clear and unforgiveable breach of security which we will have to cover up. Additional reinforcements that had been scrambled early in the firefight began to arrive placing pressure on the hostiles. However the VIP was knocked unconscious and apprehended prior to insertion. A monitoring station on the slums outskirts picked up Xom's exfiltration via their usual transport. However our soldiers quick on the scene found this no cause to celebrate, the VIP missing, significant damage to the area and heavy casualties sustained.

Operation Bloody Rhyme Season 3 Episode 9
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed-
I've gained clearance to send this latest advent report your way. Whilst we're still using our comm software the Xcom team has adopted their own. So in essence I have to get their permission to transfer these files out to you. I'm sure you can understand why such is necessary but it no doubt accounts for the delay. The below report is of an assault on a civilian resistance outpost. I warn you going into this that whilst Xcom did defend the encampment the civilians suffered extreme losses. Given advent's apparent desire to strike such positions I'd advise beefing up alertness at base camp. The AA gun we recovered from that museum might be about 80 years old but Wesley did say he'd rearmed it. Maybe it's time to wheel that bad boy out of storage just in case? I'd sleep better knowing you had at least something in place to suppress advent forces should they target you next. Below are a list of casualties known to have perished in the advent raid. Although this is by no means the entire count and none of these are technically our people I thought you may wish to add them to the wall. Like our own these people died free whilst working to disrupt advent operations. It would be a good show of solidarity in my eyes to add them to the list of honourable combat losses.
Amber Walker Marte Karlsen Shannon Gordon Leah Taylor On Xu Lea Leroy Yutaka Mori
In other news one of our outposts got hit by some kind of advent computer virus. To quote Xcom's chief engineer 'Shen' when she saw it "It's hard to get anything done when the computers are constantly screaming at you to surrender to the nearest advent peacekeeper immediately." so it appears the shadow war of tech and encryption just heated up a bit! To be fair they have a pretty solid engineering team up there but I'm not so sure they have any dedicated computer specialists. Don't get me wrong they're all smart but it's the experience and technical bullshit that goes with spending half your life balls deep in computer code they lack. Some Northern Irish fellow found his way to Madagascar and joined up. Name of Daniel Boyd if that rings any bells? Seems we've got more British folk heading over every month! Pity I'm not up there on the avenger but hey it's probably less dangerous on the ground. For now at least.

Resistance Haven, 'Defiance Rock', South Africa - April 26th 2035
-Incident Report-
Advent forces were deployed to destroy a resistance haven. Command had known of the existance of a small scale resistance camp in this area and we gained the green light to deploy. Multiple squads dropped in after an aerial bombardment, causing much initial damage to resistance hardware. It's estimated a third of the resistance personnel perished in the bombardment and that in targeting their arms cache first we managed to prevent organised resistance.
Unfortunately it appears this resistance outpost had links to Xcom. This was not mentioned in the intel report but was a known risk factor. A muton led patrol encountered hostiles on high ground whilst sweeping the area for civilians and moved to engage. This led to an initial, costly firefight in which our positions were bombarded with explosives. Though tough and extremely resilient it appears concentrated enemy fire downed the muton and wounded a trooper before they could respond. Remaining combat patrols remained unaware of the enemy incursion, radio jammers deployed by Xcom preventing psionic link communications. However these squads continued sweeping the camp eliminating any resistance personnel where encountered. A viper led squad moving nearby reported suspected gunfire, which after combat analysis shows, was concurrent with the deaths of the remaining retinue of the muton. In moving to investigate this squad took a high ground advantage continuing to eradicate hostiles as it advanced. As the viper and accompanying duo of stun lancers engaged Xcom forces they were blasted off the rocky high ground by a combination of grenades and heavy gunfire. Fortunately this initial exchange of gunfire wasn't entirely one sided and our forces survived to counter attack. The viper showed tactical prowess by bombarding hostiles with poisonous spit whilst our magnetic shotgun equipped stun lancers laid down heavy fire on enemy positions. However hostile fire proved more effective, slaying both lancers; prompting the viper to retreat and seek reinforcements. Alas this effort was cut short by a hostile grenade and an officer led patrol, further in the camp, opted to retain position and enact a thorough sweep to avoid being flanked.
The officer patrol, comprised of an assault lancer, officer and heavy trooper, encountered hostiles moving up from the depression in terrain. Hostiles initially sought the high ground but then retreated intending to lay an ambush. Our stun lancer though equipped with a superior magnetic rifle to his foe and having flanked an Xcom soldier perfectly, opted instead to leap down to attempt a stun baton attack. This behaviour is the leading contribution to his death as the mag shotgun would have instantly slain his foe which he miraculously managed to miss in melee, leaving him exposed and surrounded. Fortunately it was at this point that both of our faceless infiltrators became aware of the firefight. Revealing themselves they charged in to provide assistance to the fire team. The officer squared off with the hostile atop the ridge whilst the faceless drew enemy fire and wreaked havoc on enemy positions. Meanwhile the remaining trooper, following very wise orders, continued to slay outlying pockets of human resistance members hiding nearby. Whilst not necessarily the best combat move at this point in the battle, mission success hinged on racking up a strong kill count in case our teams were taken down. Unfortunately hostiles managed to take down the faceless and a hostile dispatched the heavy trooper via sword. Alas reinforcements were unavailable and the remaining officer had no choice but to fight to the death. It seems Xcom is mixing weapon varieties including for some reason swords. Maybe they ran out of guns? What are we to see next? Crossbows? I am however confident that significant damage was done to this resistance outpost. It's estimated we obliterated all ground assets and somewhere between 65-80% of combatants present. Xcom however did manage to eradicate our squads though we didn't make it easy this time. Between the faceless and the vipers poison we almost swung the tide of battle in our favour. Only by their survival was this raid not a complete success. But there is next time.

Operation Swamp Face Season 3 Episode 10
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
It looks like Xcom is hoping to beef up their ground push. They've been in contact with the local resistance cell in Egypt and managed to jointly install a radio relay. This means we get much smoother lines of communication for one thing! For another it means Xcom is pushing hard to try and expand their reach outside of Africa. They've been gathering as much electronic salvage as they can so I get the impression they're working on something big up on the avenger. Still I'm going to keep our contact weekly or bi-weekly just in case advent pick up on the remaining tower we jack this through. I'd love to say I'm 100% on our counter measures.... but I'd be lying. I know you're still working on the stuff left over from the pre-war darknet. If you've made any worthwhile upgrades since the last update send me the code! Attached is an advent report from the last Xcom incursion. It's also worth noting that they've recently tightened their grip on the civilian populace and advent PR is churning out terrorist warnings round the clock. It's hard to gauge civilian response but I think advent may be convincing most.

Small Town in Advent Patrol Zone 9, outskirts of Pretoria - May 10th 2035
- Incident Report -
In line with attempts to isolate physical data vaults from resistance hackers we set up a line in patrol zone nine. The aim of this data vault was to contain and lock down all information regarding our recent tactical efforts. The risk factor was acknowledged and it was decided a safe place for such would be in a suburb of Pretoria. An area was found with low civilian population and we established an outpost and deployed additional patrols. However it seems our efforts have been somewhat in vain as Xcom located the site and assaulted it in the early evening. Fortunately the attack site was only one of three deployed vaults in this area, each handling data on separate tactical directives. Main defence of the relay was given over to a new mechanised unit and two stun lancers. Meanwhile muton led units patrolled on set patterns around the perimeter in the final stages of data upload. For the week these relays have been in position the final day is the most critical thus the additional deployments. It may be these troop movements that alerted Xcom.
Initially patrols showed no signs of enemy movement. However this abruptly changed when a muton led, frontal squad came under assault. The hostiles opened fire from the rooftops, the initial attack a headshot on the muton. Life signs from the muton suggest this was a one shot kill something we'd not previously thought possible. I hate to admit it but the shot was either a feat of extreme marksmanship or sheer luck. The remnant of his squad scattered but were cut down by hostile fire. The main defence team witnessed the killings and was swift to respond. A stun lancer advanced into cover behind an identification tower which was brought down moments later by enemy grenade. The shrapnel from the blast shredded the mech units armour as well and left the stun lancer standing in the open without cover. This proved as fatal as it sounds. The mechanised unit took a sniper bullet and then a hail of magnetic rounds suggesting our enemy has developed their own weapons similar to our own. This is troubling as if our enemy reverse engineers our weaponry we will need to adapt our tactics accordingly. The remaining stun lancer opted to break for new cover and was gunned down as well.
The rear patrol gorup withdrew towards the data vault as it became clear it was at immediate risk. However the enemy managed to bombard it with gunfire obliterating the device. This took our group by surprise as they were certain hostiles would attempt to hack it and seize the data. However upon destruction the viper led patrol sprung into action taking up offensive positions. Rather than firing at our soldiers a hostile opted to shoot a propane tank lining the wall of the building. This caused an explosion which took out an entire wall of the building, almost slaying the lancer nearby and almost bringing the building down entirely. This lancer now exposed was slain by enemy sniper fire. The viper and remaining trooper were bombarded with explosives and hostile fire which slew them both. All in all our troops seem not to have managed a single successful return shot during this series of ambushes. We also lost the data and simulations for results on our attempts to initiate a continent wide state of high alert. A thorough after action sweep of the area revealed extensive grafitti on a local rooftop. It would appear prior to engaging the words "Xcom: Fucking advent since 2015" were hastily drawn next to a crude symbol of their logo. Coupled with the confirmed presence of a certain female member of hostile forces this provided the final proof this assault was Xcom's doing.

Operation Devil's Glove Season 3 Episode 11
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
Xcom has been quite busy since our last contact, But from the sounds of things so have you! I hear you've thrown your backing behind Xcom in amazing fashion. You'll have to tell me just how you managed to hack that advent mech one of these days. I mean you must have needed a physical link... did you find it whilst deactivated? Turning it on an advent military parade just.... genius. Well probably a little psychotic as well but hey whose judging! Africa's heating up something fierce though. Pretty much the whole continents resistance groups are behind us now. In fact it's so bad advent have tried shutting down all rural highways with mass checkpoints. I think the fact Xcom keep targetting their local small scale bases in isolated spots might have something to do with it.
Xcom are also preparing for yet another hit on Advent. It seems they're really not keen on the idea of advent setting up protocols to guarantee coverage of reinforcements continent wide! If you're worried interception of this data may cause a field issue don't. All my messages are set on a mandatory 24 hour delay before being processed and sent. It's actually my idea! I didn't want any tactical information getting out just in case we had a mole or a computer virus. I've only just managed to get my hands on the advent report for the raid of the 18th. It wasn't that it was encrypted differently than usual but it appears they executed the poor sod in charge of the area for gross negligence. There's a court martial report spoken of in the attachment to the upload and I can only assume it went to hell.

Wilderness of West Africa - May 18th 2035
- Incident Report -
A road connecting one of our more remote population centers to the main Southern cities was struck by resistance forces. The attack occurred near an important bridge crossing along the half way point of the road. Terrain in the area is rocky and overgrown with many abandoned relics of the past scattering the area. It seems the resistance used this to their advantage, preparing a thoroughly planned ambush. It appears they employed a focused EMP device which knocked out our lead vehicles. Rear vehicles were then struck with stinger devices bursting the lightly fortified tires. The saboteurs initially engaged in a brief firefight before scattering, assumedly to pre-planned positions. Our forces following protocol fortified the area, set up a perimeter and called for backup. This task wasn't especially difficult considering the importance of the bridge crossing. On one bank of the river gorge sits a transport pad and local garrison force alongside a rapid response team. Unfortunately on this occasion the rapid response team was already deployed to the North on active combat patrol and the drop ship and usual attachment was absent. However troops from the convoy and local bridge garrison were able to fend off the initial attack and make use of the heavy fortifications.
In response to the initial ambush our forces erected blockades at the bridge, leaving a supply truck in the centre. A muton led group held this position whilst others patrolled the area, sweeping for hostiles whilst awaiting reinforcements. Thanks to our push for extra vigilance in the field our operatives were drastically more aware of their surroundings. After combat analysis suggests Xcom operatives dropped in on the southern side of the bridge. Whilst one would assume being on the opposite side of a river, only one crossing for miles, and with fortifications in place this would prove an issue. However Xcom appears to have simply rushed the bridge after studying patrol patterns. This led to them blindsiding the muton led patrol, gaining the bridge and enacting an ambush via grenade. One soldier immediately died as the explosives caused him to catch fire however the muton and remaining patrol member managed to evade the initial gunfire. Footage from the mutons battle cam shows it even managed to wound an attacker before it and it's remaining patrol team were slain. Drawn by the sound of combat a mech led patrol moved to engage hostiles taking heavy fire as they approached over open ground. Unfortunately the volume of enemy fire slew both the stun lancer and trooper leaving the mechanized unit alone. Rather than press the attack this unit seems to have suffered a malfunction in it's tactical array. It appears to have withdrawn to it's pre-set disaster rally point and neglected to return fire, leading to it's demise soon after. The combat records of this unit have been sent to tech labs to ensure this is an isolated incident.
Xcom operatives continued to advance on the main garrison building. After the initial resistance attack supplies had been offloaded and stored in the garrison depot to ensure their security. However Xcom seems to have been specifically targetting these resources and pushed into the supply yard. Here they encountered a sectoid led squad and given the quantity of sectoid blood present we can only assume it took fire from multiple directions. In fact one arm was recovered, riddled with bullets, severed at the joint by a magnetic slug still embedded in the arm. Footage from the garrisons internal cameras shows remaining advent personnel perishing soon after. When reinforcements arrived twenty minutes after the estimated end of engagement they found the area pillaged. All trace of the supplies had gone to the extent that even the advent vehicles were stripped of some parts. On exiting the hostiles appear to have deliberately blown up the drop ship and sabotaged the bridge supports leading it to be at immediate risk of collapse. The remote nature of the site means a clean up will take some time. In the interim we have opted to re-rout all supply traffic over the mainland rail network or via aerial transport. Frankly I had not expected Xcom to target such a remote outpost or for that matter even know a convoy would be passing through. We will have to conduct an urgent investigation and see what it turns up.

Operation Blood Beast Season 3 Episode 13
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
This week Xcom carried out their first large scale assault on an advent city centre. I expect news of the riots they caused was supressed so I've managed to drag up a report from advent themselves. It seems the mission was an effort to extract a person of interest from advent custody. At any rate it was a success although not without a cost. I hear some good operatives lost their lives in the attack and it seems advent is much better suited to prolonged engagements. But then again we've always known guerilla tactics were best against the sods.
You'll be pleased to know that when the avenger returned late May they'd come up with a solution to our tech issues infiltrating advent systems. I'm not privy to the details but their chief scientist and head engineer collaborated and collectively assassinated advents encryption. It didn't take the team I'm on long to find a vulnerable local port to jack into the network so we're live once again! Judging by the pattern we've observed it seems highly likely advent are constantly altering the type of encryption they use. I guess we'll just have to hope they don't do it very fast.

Advent Municipal Precinct, Marseille - May 25th 2035
- Incident Report -
At approx 20:00 local time a large scale attack was launched on advent positions. Initially some advent garrisons were attacked by citizens throwing stones and other crude implements. It appears that the cause for the riots is a mixture of grievances with local governance that have been bubbling beneath the surface for some time. As per the standard policy we deployed riot troops and stun lancers to try and disperse the crowds. However this proved less effective than we'd hoped as rioters filmed footage of the violence spinning it off as unwarranted aggression. This stirred further civil unrest and led to widespread looting and unrest citywide. It is believed the initial riots were encouraged by between three to five resistance cells operating in the city. These cells appear to have co-ordinated the initial rioting. It would appear each was in a separate city area and had objectives to destroy key infrastructure.
In the initial rioting the city was put on lockdown. Mechanised defence units were activated to keep law and order in key central zones. These units were given commands to only engage upon armed hostiles that could pose a serious threat. The deployment secured approximately a quarter of the city initially and kept financial and industrial regions secure. However additional foot patrols were less fortunate in the streets with many soldiers succumbing to wounds in the initial clash with rioters. At least two resistance cells infiltrated power stations in the southern section of the city and sabotaged them. It is believed they uploaded a virus into the systems after physically accessing the network. This network is a known weakness of pre-elder technology and is unfortunately unavoidable. These groups gained access by attacking and slaying advent guards on site. On the way out they also laid explosives on trip wires so when a quarter of an hour later advent reinforcements arrived, instead of securing the site and restoring power, they blew up along with the stations. It would seem electricity access was the riots main cause as our energy curfews aren't going down well with the clearly unhappy populace.
At approximately 20:18 local time a resistance cell engaged an officer led advent patrol in the heart of the municipal district. In hindsight it is abundantly clear this was an Xcom aerial infiltration and clearly they must have been behind the riots in turn. This group managed to circumvent exterior measures and communication lines were initially clogged with chatter. As our forces scrambled to react to the evolving situation, blackouts sweeping the city and fires starting in outer districts, this intrusion went undetected for a critically long duration of time. It is assumed the ambushed officer group perished instantly as next confirmed contact was with a viper patrol group. This group walked unknowingly into an ambush, one lancer immediately going down in a hail of enemy fire. Footage pulled from the remaining lancer shows hostiles rapidly advancing. The viper appears to have gone down as a result of explosives and hostile fire whilst the lancer managed to score a hit on a hostile. Unfortunately this appears to have merely been a flesh wound and the lancer was dispatched soon after. At this point the local command group guarding the prisoners in the nearby detention centre noticed the patrols life signs monitors go down. A top tier emergency was declared and a call was sent city wide for reinforcements. However at this point central command was dealing with no less than three such similar levels of emergency as well as responding to the city wide riots. Tear gas was deployed against clumps of protesters and command issued an immediate curfew stating anyone on the streets at 20:30 would be met with lethal force.
At the detention centre a patrol group was sent to establish high ground on the facility roof. However as advent troops advanced to the railings they were met by hostile fire. One trooper took a shotgun blast dead centre and went down immediately causing the remaining trooper and viper to seek cover. Hostiles deployed grenades destroying the rooftop beneath the feet of our soldiers leading to another death. The viper fell two stories sustaining heavy wounds as it moved to prepare a counter attack. Repeated, frantic calls for reinforcements were sent to central command which immediately dispatched a series of drop ships from outlying slum garrisons. These areas were also affected by the rioting however the rioters here were more rapidly dispersed than in the city centre. At 20:23 local time reinforcements from the inner districts arrived on scene in the form of a mech and two stun lancers. These units initially took high ground, confirming enemy presence, before advancing on the detention facility. Unfortunately a single resistance cell managed to sneak through our lines and come to the Xcom squads aid. This new hostile group was armed similarly to Xcom suggesting these dissidents were armed by Xcom. Unfortunately these hostiles bombarded advent positions, blasting the mech through the ceiling and inflicting severe structural damage. Damage reports auto uploaded on unit death suggest the mech survived the drop and was then struck with a high velocity round in the back which severed its servomotors. In all our stun lancers sustained shrapnel injuries but very luckily survived the grenade ambush. Before hostiles could react the first reinforcing drop ship arrived on scene, hot dropping an officer led three man team into the new combat zone.
Seeking to isolate and eradicate the newly arrived hostile forces this group took cover in the smoldering building intending to surround, suppress and contain the enemy. The two wounded stun lancers repositioned with one showing expert marksmanship in scoring a headshot on a resistance fighter. In the early stages of the firefight a trooper went down, one wounded lancer took a severe wound from a burst of fire and one resistance fighter panicked almost falling from the rooftop. The group was initially isolated from Xcom forces which were slow to respond. However they rapidly advanced over the open ground between buildings flanking the wounded stun lancers and dispatching them. Retrieved combat footage shows one was executed via sword at close quarters. Their deaths marked the turning of the fortune of battle for this part of the engagement with only an officer and stun lancer left, now surrounded by between four to six hostiles. Unfortunately these soldiers perished leaving us with no eyes on the ground. Aprox two minutes later at 20:28 local time a trooper squad was dropped in, advent forces preparing city wide to repel any rioters with deadly force. The threat of such seemingly being enough to scare the majority of the civilians from the streets, public loudspeakers announced the city under rebel attack. Unleashing footage of resistance cells blowing up power plants it seems we won a significant hearts and minds victory here in showing Xcom for the terrorists they are. Central command also released mild sedatives into the local water supply and sectoid squads started laying down a city wide blanket of psionic waves seeking to calm the populace. Combined tactics seem to have been highly effective and whilst the main firefight progressed near the detention centre a resistance cell was cornered and wiped out by a mech squad. This minor firefight saw the destruction of a warehouse as ultimately our units opted to micro-missile barrage enemies. It's unclear how many fighters comprised this cell as they were either blown apart of buried in the rubble.
At the detention centre only two of the trooper squad dropped in survived to land. The drop ship came under heavy small arms fire on departure and it appears the entire squad was wiped out within half a minute of insertion. The pre-determined drop point now overrun with hostiles; command directed incoming drops scatter on high ground in the area. To this end an officer led squad was deployed whilst reserves were pooled and sent in rapid waves hoping to force Xcom from their position. The officer squad ultimately only managed to serve as a distraction. Explosives were utilized to blow the side of the building they dropped atop to pieces causing a catastrophic series of events. The building teetering on the verge of collapse and with hostile air contacts confirmed the mustered troops were rushed into the combat zone. Anti air batteries scrambled to take up positions seeking to get a solid targeting angle on the Xcom drop ship. However these units came under sniper fire from skyscrapers around the area, suppressing them and inflicting heavy losses. It's estimated that between two to four hostile snipers were involved and initially their locations were difficult to detect. The hostile craft took up position between the ruined buildings, hostiles collected below in the square. Two advent drop ships buzzed past performing hot combat drops for their transported troops. As command became aware the AA wouldn't be online in time the order was given at 20:31 to peel all non essential units from the riot lines and focus in on confirmed hostile positions. All hostiles extracted save one via rope. One apparently unfortunate soldiers line got caught in a tree and as advent riot forces arrived on scene she was dispatched via a duo of stun lancers. Though we lost 21 advent lives in this engagement it appears we slew one of Xcom's combat engineers.
From the body we recovered a new design of unmanned support drone equipped to discharge emergency medical aid. It also has physical hacking ports and in its data banks were details on a local supply drop from resistance forces. As well as this we recovered a hostile mag rifle and upon investigation of the body many stolen advent items. It appears this particular hostile was looting flex weave from the corpses of our fallen perhaps intending to reverse engineer it back at their base. All things considered this targets demise is an important stepping stone as we now know the main avenue of Xcom's hacking access to our networks. Data and the device which partially detonated on capture was sent to our tech and intel teams respectively. The after analysis of these riots shows across the board around fifty to sixty advent casualties, extensive damage to the municipal area, heavy fire damage to civilian sections 22A through E and sabotage of power grids supplying the city. Emergency generators have been deployed for now and our engineer core is hard at work to repair damages. In turn civilian casualties are estimated at 326 wounded, 15 dead and 7 confirmed resistance or Xcom fighters. Unfortunately detainee Laurellin Kallasai, the apparent target of this whole assault, escaped with Xcom forces taking vital intel with her and depriving us a chance to extract information from her.

Operation Twisted Tongue Season 3 Episode 14
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
Well it seems Xcom has decided to really put the pain on in Africa lately. From causing riots to stoking the flames of unrest. Hell they even hit -another- advent VIP this week and bought him back alive from what I hear. Heck they're even getting local gangs to target advent! There's a serious push underway but as of yet I've not seen any real move to spread influence beyond Africa. I can't help but wish the scale was greater... we need to repulse advent worldwide and I'm chaffing at the bit here. There's only so long I can sit behind a computer! I want to be up there gun in hand damnit. Still.... I'm at least helping. We managed to find info that shut down advents latest encryption push and as a result here's a shiny new report courtesy of our 'glorious' overlords. They like writing about getting their arses kicked.

Small Town, Advent Patrol Zone 16, Outskirts of Ibadan - June 2nd 2035
- Incident Report -
Advent forces were on duty escorting a VIP on tour around the Ibadan suburbs. The aim was a push to get more people to move into the city centers to reap the benefits. Due to a recent spate of kidnappings, jailbreaks and insurrection by Xcom this operation was given a high security detail. The main road adjacent to the building hosting the talks was blocked off and turrets erected in temporary bays. Advent rapid response vehicles were also on hand and our more elite troops attended, patrolling the perimeter. These advanced troops are equipped with the latest tech and upgraded armour and armaments.
Initial hostile contact came on the outskirts of our defensive perimeter. An officer led patrol was moving along the far south of the VIP position when it came under assault. Combat footage though brief due to the expiry of those gathering it paints a clear picture. Hostiles sheltered behind discarded appliances and stumps of trees, a fence obscuring them from the turrets, as they opened fire with a concentrated salvo of gunfire and grenades. One trooper managed to somehow evade this deadly barrage fleeing towards the VIP and alerting other nearby patrols of enemy contact. As hostiles advanced this knowledge of their presence proved invaluable and prevented further ambushes. A sectoid soldier battle group spotted hostiles and engaged. Xcom once again employed grenades to set a car on fire, slaying one soldier and leaving the car aflame, dangerously so as it threatened to explode without warning. Our forces exchange gunfire and we managed to return grenade fire, obliterating hostile cover along the fence line. This allowed our turret a clear line of sight however it appears to have merely grazed the hostiles not managing to score a solid hit. Unfortunately rapid repositioning of hostile forces overwhelmed the patrol group and they perished without a confirmed kill.
It was at this point of the engagement advent reinforcements arrived on the scene as many local garrisons scrambled to intercept. The first drop on scene was a mech and a duo of stun lancers which were immediately ambushed. It appears our enemy is aware of our superiority in pitched battle and opts instead to cowardly attack individual patrol groups, whittling down our forces over time. Deployment of a chrysallid unit failed to flush the hostiles out of their position and into turret line of fire. This left a final patrol to guard the VIP which returned to secure the main structure. However as hostiles repositioned one turret managed to score a direct hit on an Xcom soldier severely wounding her. A squad of troopers dropped into combat only to meet a much swifter more brutal fate than the last transports troop load. It would seem they barely made it out the drop ship before being gunned down. Clearly local garrisons need to be upgraded with the new gear to match our more elite field operatives. As hostiles advanced on the house the muton and sectoid personal guards sprang into action. Xcom retaliated by blowing the entire front of the building down atop it and blasting wildly into the building. Frankly it is somewhat miraculous that they didn't manage to slay the PR representative in the crossfire. Further reinforcements also perished and hostiles knocked the VIP unconscious before extracting with him. All things considered this is a relatively minor loss given current events. However we managed to wound every member of the hostile force to some extent which is a significant improvement. It shows our push for more advanced weaponry and armour is swinging the tide of battles back in our direction. In no small part thanks to our forces now having grenades!

*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
I know my last message was only a few hours ago. However I thought you'd like to see this as well! Frankly I'm more than moderately concerned advent will locate resistance ground HQ on Madagasar. I mean there aren't many escape routes on an island! Still I won't have to worry about that for long as I've been temporarily rotated onto field espionage. I dare say the odds of dying or being imprisoned are raised significantly but to be honest sitting at a desk bores me. I'd rather be out there taking the fight to advent and I'll be damned if recently it's not been hard to crack advent encryption. Maybe a spell of field work will yield some lucky results to make the task easier! I've been set up a fake identity and to be frank its quite surprising how efficient the process has been made. Then again I suppose they did infiltrate a major city recently. I imagine the ID towers had to be fooled in the process! I know everyone back in Wales will be wishing me luck. If I'm honest I'm far more concerned about your safety than my own. I don't know what I'd do if I made it back only to find you'd all perished.

Wilderness of West Africa - June 2nd 2035
- Incident Report -
Since our enemy has been attacking isolated roads within the last few months we've been relying increasingly on armoured trains to move hardware. Unfortunately it's rather simple to stop these trains by blowing up the tracks which is what resistance forces did in this case. The train in question had a relatively large and well equipped task force however which swiftly secured the area. Patrols were dispatched to the perimeter as contact was made with advent local control to acquire reinforcements. However within a quarter of an hour perimeter guards were assaulted by what were later confirmed as Xcom operatives.
The initial ambush following an apparent trend was a grenade bombardment. However initial losses were far lower than the norm suggests and our troops managed to find good cover and return fire. The sounds of gunfire drew in one a mech led squad tasked with defending the train. A muton laid down supressing fire as a mech advanced into enemy lines supported by stun lancers. It appears our focus on responsive tactics has yielded dividends as this firefight was much more in our favour than usual. Though the mech went down to a hail of fire and the hostiles used flashbangs to disorient our forces we managed to outright kill one hostile during the early stage of the engagement. However it appears hostile fire in this case was more accurate as both groups perished within minutes. Another patrol group, this one officer led, advanced to the contact site only to be assaulted from high ground immediately. This led to a catastrophic failure to inflict additional losses on Xcom as they advanced on the train. Alas this fate was shared with the final patrol group. The train and all it's cargo are lost to us and repairs to the track will take a few days. This is a rare display of two Xcom assaults in one day suggesting our enemy is perhaps ceding the region with strike teams and terror cells.

Operation War Breaker Season 3 Episode 16
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
Having been granted access to resistance havens around Africa the Xcom ground team has finally let me off the leash. Albeit they're only sending me around each area for strategic reasons and to tutor promising students! Well at least they're thinking ahead. Better to train replacements if we all go down! At any rate I ended up pretty close to an advent retaliation site. As if once wasn't bad enough.... this time they threw everything in. I was listening to comms from a mile away in a listening post and it sounded pretty damn rough. After the initial bombardment decimated the small town housing the compound survivors and escapees started streaming my way. Apparently it doubles as the evac point... so for the second time in a few months I'm dangerously close to death. Still at least this time I had my pistol at the least. Though in the end using it wasn't necessary. Since I'm not at the Madagascar command and advent just deliberately EMP'd the shit out of basically... everything nearby you'll not be getting an advent report on this one. Frankly if we could manage to get one of those stealth sats Xcom were rumoured to have during the invasion.... we'd never worry again! Still on the plus side the resistance garrison commander has agreed to let me share her report when it's sent to Xcom. On the down side I've read it and seen reports of the firefight. A lot of resistance forces died and Xcom got pressed so hard they actually had to evac. In other words the entire camps gone and it ain't getting rebuilt. Now it's a refugee camp five miles away and I'm having to help escort everyone to a new site.

Resistance Haven, "Freedom Ridge", West Africa- June 11th 2035
- Incident Report -
Advent hit us in the early hours and they hit us hard. In the initial attacks half the camp was laid waste, buildings were gutted and half our defenders died fending off the drop ships. The ground assault came about fifteen minutes later, preceded by heavy artillery bombardment. We tried returning fire but a pair of mortars aren't going to do much. Still we gave our best. Our high ground positions atop the main building and abandoned gas station roof were obliterated by the enemy air strikes. Our armoury was struck early on and the only heavy weapon we could recover was a 50 cal with a mere two hundred rounds. Our forces likely took a few advent with them on the front line but ultimately it looks like they perished swiftly. Just thinking about the faces... John, Austin, Lucy. I sent them all their to die. Just hours ago we were laughing over a meal and swapping stories. Now they're dead.
The advent advanced threatening to encircle the camp I had no choice but to order immediate evacuation. Anything essential that could be saved swiftly was taken and we deployed our entire cache of smoke grenades. If the wind had been against us.... I don't know what we'd have done. But in any event as the evacuation neared its final stages advent forces breeched the perimeter. Fortunately for us this is also when Xcom showed up and our last defenders opted to provide vanguard action with them. As we were leaving the screams of those too slow or injured from before followed us. The heavy footfalls of mutons and missile fire all but chased us from camp. Somewhere in the compound something let out a deep, guttural roar of rage... I've never heard anything like it. It sounded so close, so immense and so terrifying. If anyone needed more incentive to run before they didn't anymore. I salute the four that stayed behind with Xcom. I know I'd have struggled to face what came out of the smoke and ruin to hurl itself against them.
We regrouped at the covert listening post a mile away and linked up with a secondary Xcom group. They didn't have good news to report. The first squad sent into the haven got overrun and almost eradicated. Apparently the only reason anyone survived is because Firebrand charged back in to evac them under heavy fire. Austin Moates, Yuuri Lysenko, Lucy Seven, Alexander Kashev and that oddball that wanted us to call him Judge Dredd... all dead. They volunteered to stay behind and I hear they fought well and took some of advent with them. But it's bittersweet. I didn't think I could simultaneously be so angry and yet feel so helpless. How can I lead these people if I can't even ensure their safety? Maybe it's time for someone else to take charge. I keep seeing their faces.

Operation Frost Walk Season 3 Episode 17
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
After the advent strike against the resistance outpost I didn't think things could get much worse. Then Xcom got in touch... you'll fucking love this. Guess what advent central command was trying to do? They only had the bright idea to create cocoons of chrysallids in -every- city centre WORLDWIDE! Literally they were going to unleash chryssalids everywhere on civilian populations as a terror tactic. It would pretty much ruin resistance movements... can you imagine? They can burrow now. Nowhere in the country is safe. What if advent gave them free reign to kill everything outside cities? My blood ran cold when I heard the news! Fortunately the folks on the avenger took this about as seriously as the outbreak of nuclear war. Apparently one of the people I helped train got deployed to the lower end of Egypt and in turn had a network that let him access these critical files. Long story short he helped Xcom tap the advent data and corrupt it serverside. In doing so he's been compromised and had to return to Madagascar but hell he did a fine job! The good news is that advent needed super computer levels of processing to predict the outcome of rampant chryssalids behaviour. The bad news is they considered it. Still if they hope to try again I can only pray we intercept that data as well. It does raise the horrible thought. What if we win this war? What if as vengeance the elders release this most deadly biological weapon?
You'll be pleased to know it's not all doom and gloom. I've travelled with the refugees from the haven and helped rebuild somewhere else. I say rebuild.... really we're making it from scratch. We found an abandoned advent checkpoint near a similarly empty town. Nature had all but reclaimed it but we salvaged enough useful bits and bobs to cobble together a basic camp. I don't know how but some of the solar panels from the street lamps still worked! Now powers up and running I've been told command wants to bring me back to Xcom ground control for when they make contact with you. You heard right! Xcom is coming for Europe! You're one of about six groups they've managed to identify so far and they're currently in the process of contacting everyone. Apparently next time the avenger is in the region I'll be air lifted back to HQ. So in a way I get to join the crew.... for like.... a day or so. But hey I'm not gonna bemoan the chance to get into that beauty even if it's not to stay and fight!

Slums District, "Shack Park", Kano - June 23rd 2035
- Incident Report -
We received a tip off that resistance fighters had set up a data tap in the slum districts of Kano. Concerned this might be a trap by our enemies I took the decision to deploy overwhelming force. In all many of our best trained soliders were deployed including the first field test for our shield troopers. We also equipped our teams with a range of weapons from magnetic sniper rifles to shotguns. This battle also saw the first use of backwards engineered robotic UAV Support come into play. The soldier slain in recent riots provided much of the design details from her incorrectly detonated device. We've come to be aware Xcom call these drones 'Gremlins' and some forces use this colloquialism in the field. The data tap contents, according to tech, are alleged to be relating to advent global commands latest initiative. Whilst the data is entirely held behind encryption and I lack clearance for such it was of utmost importance such critical data not be stolen by our enemies.
Initially we secured the device, setting about dismantling and destroying it. Tech informed us it was important we disassemble the device steadily so as to ensure any stolen data could be retrieved. However as the process begun our outer patrol came under fire from Xcom forces sent to intercept. It appears in the initial ambush our foe utilised a previously unseen grenade type. This grenade seems to be a chemical based weapon that released highly concentrated acid in the impact zone leading to horrific acid burns on our soldiers. The unarmoured sectoid in particular suffered extensively and died within the first minute. It also appears exterior armour plating and shielding added to bulk up our survival rates was damaged and it's defencive properties undermined. One of our shield bearers managed to return fire, confirming a hit on a hostile before both present were lost in battle. Hostiles advanced on the building containing the data tap and were met by our elite forces, led by a muton and an officer. In the early stage of this engagement hostiles deployed what appears to be a wrist mounted rocket launcher to destroy the roof of the building. This assault tore part of the roof away dropping a support unit down to the floor below. Moments later a sniper bullet ended this soldiers life leaving our reverse engineered 'gremlin' untested and inert. A bombardment of grenades followed slaying the muton and another rocket struck a pair of parked cars. Alas the officer in charge of the assault was behind one of these cars as they all detonated ending his life.
As the majority of our initial forces that made contact perished remaining patrols returned. A muton and a sectoid duo intervened as command issued a change of orders. All levels of force were authorised to neutralise the data tap as the tide of battle clearly turned against our forces. One sectoid broke cover to this end but was gunned down, the muton however causing significant damage to the device via plasma rifle. This muton showed extensive bravery in the field as it was blown up not once but twice yet stood it's ground delivering an almost fatal return shot on a hostile. However enemies sneaking over the remaining rooftop gunned it down securing the device for our enemy.

Operation Mountain Killer Season 3 Episode 18
*Resistance Comm Transmission* - Designation: Firestorm - - Secure Network Access: Confirmed -
True to their word the avenger dispatched 'Firebrand' to come pick me up and give me a lift back to Madagascar next time they stop there. I never thought I'd see air travel again after the invasion. It's like that film with the dragons... you know. That one based in London whose name I always forget! The sky is their domain. The UFO's the battleships.... I don't think anyone even has a helicopter anymore yet alone an airforce. I can only imagine advent simply don't pay attention to the skies as much given their total domination. That and I pray there's some stealth tech on this damn thing! I got assigned temporary quarters which were as cramped as one could expect. As a result I'm spending much of my time crunching numbers on the command deck and assisting Central officer Bradford when required. I think the only reason they picked me up from that haven is for tactical support. But hell I'll not complain! Maybe they'll keep me around even if it is a relatively minor role. I suspect however they'll deem me more useful on the ground and I'll be back in the shitter in no time.
A strike team got back from a supply raid recently. They looked pretty beat up. All I saw was a med team rush to the boarding section and Bradford seemed unusually glum even for him. I caught a glimpse of the team though and exhausted as they were they still looked fierce. I still wish they'd let me grab a gun and join them. I swear armour is getting more revealing though... it's like they know if they're hit in the field they're basically dead. Still it might be down to personal choice and what they can find and produce. I certainly know you're still using that kevlar that's past it's expiry date. Heck I've still got my knife proof jacket for all the good it does. So I'm in the odd position of desperately wanting to know what composites their armours made from and simultaneously pondering the wisdom of leaving some female soldiers midrifts exposed. Still.... one cannot complain at the eye candy! Oh and before I forget here's the latest report sent direct from the source. The Madagascar ground team transferred the file up and it's coming to you as priority data so you know what to expect when Xcom starts pissing off advent in your zone.

Wilderness of South Africa - June 30th 2035
- Incident Report -
An advent convoy of military grade supplies travelling southbound on a major highway was ambushed. Resistance fighters fired RPG's at lead vehicles crippling some and engulfing the surrounds in fire and smoke. Only an overwhelming show of force pushed the enemy back to allow our forces to secure the area. This respite was short lived as less than ten minutes after hostile fire ceased an enemy unit struck from the rear, later combat data confirms these forces as Xcom operatives. Fires still raged on the roadway and one advent supply truck was fully engulfed in flames, blowing up shortly before hostiles engaged. These environmental distrations masked Xcom's approach as our forces struggled to combat the fires.
As one of our patrols moved around a rocky outcrop they spotted Xcom operatives atop the ridge. The muton immediately opened fire, severely wounding a hostile, the sectoid accompanying him going down to enemy return fire. A nearby officer led patrol witnessed the initial exchange rushing to assist and were joined by a duo of chryssalids. These chryssalids had recently returned from chasing down fleeing resistance forces and were in optimal position to drive Xcom from the ridge. Xcom's response to the threat was an unholy bombardment of explosives ranging from grenades to rockets as the chryssalids were blown clean off the cliff side. In a storm of gunfire they also slew the muton and left our support forces exposed and running for cover. Returning fire our forces badly wounded another Xcom soldier as evidenced by blood splatter analysis after the battles conclusion. Our shield trooper variant also deployed his defensive boost creating a solid position from which to retaliate. Unfortunately hostiles deployed yet more explosive firepower, rapidly repositioning to flank the officer. Both officer and shieldbearer were downed in the exchange of gunfire as a mech and stun lancer rushed to assist. These fresh forces were met with a grenade that spilled forth corrosive acid which started to eat through the mechs armour. Our remaining forces advanced, outnumbered but not outgunned. A trooper gunned down one Xcom operative as both the mech and shotgun armed lancer inflicted substantial damage on hostile positions causing one hostile to break and hide in a panic. Unfortunately this damage though substantial proved not to be enough, our forces melting under return fire. A lone stun lancer survived, charging in for a last stand attempt to slay the panicked hostile alas failing to secure a kill before his demise.
After the initial firefight a patrol started to return from northern patrol. Having lost contact with the deceased advent forces this muton led group advanced slowly towards the last known location of hostiles. As they approached another supply truck, damaged in the fight, detonated in a huge fireball temporarily impairing our optical sensors. Encountering hostiles in the low ground between outcroppings it became clear enemy forces were diminished. Our forces spotted a hostile drop ship maintaining position overhead as crew appeared to be med-evacing personnel and chose to engage seeking maximum disruption. The muton rushed across the field sending hostiles scattering for high ground as he sought to engage the drop ship before it could escape the area, remaining forces activating shields and preparing to assist. However in the act of doing so it took multiple bursts of heavy weapons fire and eventually went down to hostile fire. The stun lancer duo present engaged two hostiles on the far ridge yet failed to score significant hits on enemy positions. A heavy concentration of enemy fire tore through cover and against all odds Xcom pulled the engagement back in their favour slaying both lancer and the shieldbearer who followed swiftly after. As per the usual in the aftermath Xcom and resistance fighters returned to utterly pillage the convoy leaving only smoldering wreckages and traces of battle behind. We can take small solace in the fact that we in return inflicted heavy losses on our enemy though due to the partial evacuation cannot confirm combat kills.
